Arccos Caddie Preview Offers a Shot at Augusta National

Arccos Caddie Preview of Augusta National

The Masters. Oh, the Masters.

No two words stir as many emotions for golfers around the world. Make all the arguments you’d like for golf’s other majors being the best of the lot. But The Masters is certainly at the top of many lists.

And while we can all look forward to, its rescheduled playing Nov. 5-8, early April conjures images of blooming azaleas and dogwood trees, the taste of a homemade pimento cheese sandwiches and the deafening roars of Augusta National Golf Clubs’ hallowed Amen Corner.

As it is with so many professional sports right now, we do have live Masters Tournament alternatives available. Here are a few ways to “get your Augusta fix” this week, including an option via the Arccos Caddie app.

Broadcast or Streaming

Whether it’s on television, satellite radio or online, there’s plenty of Masters content to consume.

  • TV coverage “Celebrating the Masters” with highlights from 10 tournaments including Jack Nicklaus’s famous final round in 1986. And famed final rounds airing Thursday through Sunday, culminating with Tiger’s victory last year.

  • Satellite radio is broadcasting a collection of shows that will have a number of Masters-related guests, such as Greg Norman, Tom Watson and Zach Johnson, plus plenty of Masters moments and banter.

  • YouTube has full broadcast final-round airings of every Masters Tournament back to 1968!

That’s right, Arccos members who have logged at least five rounds have access to “Preview Caddie” and can use the app to see how they would play every hole at Augusta.

Simply open the Arccos Caddie app, search for “Augusta National Golf Club” (it can be downloaded for better performance), select Masters tees, tap “Preview Caddie” in the bottom left of the screen and off you go on the 445-yard par-4 opening hole.

And let’s be honest, while watching Masters replays is certainly a prudent use of time, there’s nothing wrong with double screening to maximize enjoyment and create a total Masters immersion.

Use Arccos Preview Caddie to virtually play Augusta National as many times as you’d like. Have a little fun with strategy and shot selection on the holes, especially the course’s famous par 5s like the 510-yard 13th, “Azalea,” which has played as the tournament’s easiest hole in recent events.

Are you a good driver of the golf ball? The 495-yard par-4 (yes, par-4) 10th hole will let you know once and for all. It is arguably the most challenging two-shotter on Tour with a scoring average of 4.35 in 2019.

Oh, and then there’s Amen Corner, holes 11-13.

Over the years, No. 11 has gradually become one of the most difficult holes on the course. It played as the third hardest last year with a scoring average of 4.34. Do you hit it long enough to utilize the downhill “power chute” on this massive par 4?

Don’t let the azalea-laden backdrop distract you on the famed par-3 12th hole, “Golden Bell,” one of golf’s most famous holes. Remarkably, its stroke average has ranged from an all-time high of 3.55 in 1966 to 3.03 in 2002 despite its diminutive length of 155 yards.

So there you have it, a recipe for a nostalgic and virtual Masters weekend that should scratch the itch until November. Fire up the popcorn, your Arccos app and enjoy.
