Arccos Users Improve 36x Faster Than the Average Golfer

Every golfer has different equipment, different swings and different skills. One thing that unites us all: Every golfer wants to get better. At Arccos, we’ll make you better, faster than anyone – no matter your skill level.

Recently published analysis of the USGA GHIN handicap system shows that the average golfer improved their handicap by a paltry 1.9 strokes over the past 25 years. That’s despite major advances in club and ball technology, instruction, training methods and other areas.

Obviously, we wanted to know how Arccos users were performing by comparison. So, we dove into the data, performing an extensive audit of the more than 725,000 rounds and 60 million shots that have been played by Arccos users. What it showed us is truly remarkable:

On average, an Arccos user that has played 10 rounds or more with our system lowered their handicap by 2.77 strokes in 2016 alone.

That’s a 36.4x greater rate of improvement than the average golfer!

The data set we referenced included thousands of Arccos users across all ages, genders and handicap ranges that had played 10 rounds or more with our system in 2016. Our calculation benchmarked a user’s handicap after five rounds with Arccos, and factored this against their handicap at the end of 2016.

We also uncovered two additional facts of interest:

  • A whopping 86% of our golfers who let data be their guide improved their handicaps
  • The comparative rate of handicap improvement was consistent across all skill levels

The proof is consistent with our message: Any player can improve their performance by harnessing the power of data to make smarter decisions on the course and while they practice.
