Arccos Wins Golf Digest Editors' Choice Award for Third Consecutive Year, Recognized for Excellence in Data and Artificial Intelligence
Arccos Golf today announced that its flagship Arccos Caddie Smart Sensors have been named “Best Game Analyzer” by Golf Digest as part of the magazine’s 2018 Editors’ Choice Awards.
This latest honor – Arccos’ third Editors’ Choice Award – highlights the company’s unmatched ability to help golfers of any skill level use advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to play better golf. Arccos Caddie Smart Sensors combine automatic data capture and advanced analytics to help all golfers make smarter decisions and shoot lower scores. Users improved their handicap by an average of 3.55 strokes in 2017, representing a remarkable 46x greater rate of improvement than the average golfer with a USGA handicap.
“To receive this honor from Golf Digest for three straight years shows our staying power in this space and validates our belief that all players can improve by making smarter decisions using advanced analytics and artificial intelligence,” says Sal Syed, Arccos CEO and Co-Founder. “To see our users improve at such a rapid rate confirms that we’re truly on the right track.”
This award comes on the heels of Arccos being named one of the “World’s Most Innovative Companies 2018” by Fast Company, based on the success of Arccos Caddie. The system leverages a data set of more than 100 million shots hit during 700,000+ rounds played by the Arccos community and 418 million mapping data points on 40,000+ courses. Arccos Caddie also considers elevation and live weather conditions to show players their optimal strategy on nearly every hole in the world, regardless of whether they’ve previously played the course.
“Data is the currency of AI, and we’ve built one of golf’s most valuable assets,” says Syed. “Arccos Caddie is not only helping golfers worldwide make smarter decisions to shoot lower scores, it’s democratizing the game for the 97% of players who don’t have access to a human caddie.”
“The PGA TOUR has done a great job of using advanced analytics to help its players practice and perform their best. At other levels of the game, capturing the necessary on-course data has been a real challenge,” said Mike Downey, Director, Principal Evangelist – Sports at Microsoft. “Arccos has cracked that code and built a robust data set which they’re deploying via the Microsoft Azure cloud to the benefit of golfers worldwide."
